Filmmaking & Videography

It was during my undergraduate studies that I discovered a love for screenwriting and filmmaking. I managed to be involved with several short film projects, including writing and directing my own. Additionally, I was elected into the role of 'head producer' for the student union's television station. After my studies, I tried to start a production company (Rallidae Productions) which focused on providing videography and photography to local events, as well as developing scripted projects. Sadly, Rallidae Productions has had to be paused indefinitely, so I haven't done any videography or filmmaking projects in a while. I'd love to get back into it though.

Below, you will find a selection of filmmaking and videography projects.

Remember This

Dir: Matt Coot, 2013.

I wrote and directed Remember This as part of my final year at Bath Spa University. It was awarded a First with tutors commenting that it brought them to tears - always a good sign!

The origin of Remember This began years before it was made. I struggled with mental health difficulties (now diagnosed as Borderline Personality Disorder). In 2011, I suffered a major mental health crisis. In recovery, I had to re-evaluate my life and experiences. During this recovery, I began to write Remember This. It is the story of life, love, and death. It is the story of grief, of hope, and how love can help you battle through the darkest of times. It is also a story of saying goodbye.

The short film was inspired by Charles Dickens' A Christmas Carol, Cecelia Ahern's P.S. I Love You, and various works of film noir.

Other Short Film Productions:

The following short films were made during my undergraduate degree. Sadly they are no longer available to view as they have been removed from the university's YouTube account.

Where is Lizzie?

Dir: Thilde Kold Holdt & Zoe Langley, 2012.

A father would do anything to find his missing daughter, including torturing her boyfriend.

I was the writer for this short film. It was fantastic to see this student production team transform the script to a film.

One Door Opened

Dir: Letitia Ringshaw, 2012

Can a grocery delivery driver help a woman with agoraphobia?

I was the producer and sound recordist.

Breakdown

Dir: Dulcie Duplock & Emma Coates, 2011.

A couple are on the way to a wedding when their car breaks down in the middle of the countryside, but that's the least of their problems when they encounter unwelcoming locals and a taxi driver who might be more sinister than he seems.

I was sound recordist, assisted with casting, and acted as the taxi driver.

Choices

Dir: Heidi Budden, 2010.

A student discovers that he can turn doors into portals that takes him to different places, but does he choose to use this power for good or will he give into bad temptations?

I was the sound recordist. This is actually one of my favourite short films that I was involved in and I'm gutted that it's no longer available.

A Guilty Pleasure

Dir: Katy Greenstone

A schoolgirl really wants a pair of shoes she sees in a shop window. What lengths will she go to in order to buy them?

I was the production manager for my first ever experience of a short film production.

Videography

SpaLife TV

2012-2013

SpaLife TV was the television station for Bath Spa University's Student Union. I was the 'head producer' and worked with a small team of fellow students. Together we filmed different events and informative videos. A selection of these can be seen below:

Rallidae Productions

In 2016, after I left employment in education, I decided to setup a production company called Rallidae Productions. The name originated from the family of ducks that the 'Coot' belongs to.

Rallidae provided videography and photography to local events and organisations.
